Children living in rural areas are at a greater risk of injury and related death than children living in urban areas.  They are at risk from agricultural injury, motor vehicle crashes, drowning, fires, and ATV’s.  Agricultural injury is of concern as children are often exposed to hazards simply by living in the farm environment.  It may be difficult to provide constant supervision when parents are performing farming duties or children are performing work related tasks beyond their ages.
